Reading Two Lines On One Staff

The original is in the staff below. Above is where I circled where the two lines are that a piano player would play. There are two voices, as a result, one if for the left hand (red) and the other is for the right hand (blue).But it could also mean that your thumb on the left hand holds out the whole note while you’re other fingers play the remaining notes. This can go on for both hands – so you can actually play four lines at once! (Assuming, it physically possible and there are no cross voicings, etc)

    heya walt, i messaged you on facebook and you asked me to post a blog on here for some help.. my question is if you would help with a piece of music im trying to learn.. im getting confused on a few bits, the music piece is called , “Bella’s Lullaby” by carter Burwell
    it is a take off version of : yiruma -river flow inyou which is alot harder and i would love to be able to play them

    Danielle – haha that’s great! i’d love to explain it, but what exactly is troubling you?

    Be specific… is it a part? Sightreading? etc.

    oh sorry haha i totally forgot.. when i looked at the Bella’s lullaby im getting slightly confused with some of the notes set out ,its quite hard to read, the first bit is pretty simple except the layout of the notes are upside and thats confusing me aswell.

    also on the 4th set down the is a 8va written and im unsure what that means.. sorry to be a pain
