You make it so much more interesting to learn than my mucis teacher I had. I’m 10 years old and have been learning the guitar for about 7 months. My dad is now the one teaching me cause my teacher got too busy, so I only had formal lessons for 3 months or so. My dad knows piano from when he was younger so it helps a lot. He is also learning the guitar with me. Just wanted to say we love your vides.
Oh and i just started trumpet in the school band. I could not play guitar in band because they don’t have it in my grade, but my dad thought it would still be good to learn more about music so I joined, it’s fun. See ya,

Great great video Walt. I really love how you teach notation. I am learning from the Alfred’s Piano Complete Course books, and they are very good, but you cover most of it and add new things too, in a much faster more entertaining way. Your enthusiasm is really infectious man!
I’m jealous of the 10 year old Patrick below. I really wish I had these videos when I was 10, or any time through my teenage years. My shitty high school music department threw me off music completely, I had no interest in playing. I’m 24 now, and just learning some piano…..these videos are a godsend. Thanks for sharing.

24 is a great age to start. People go their whole lives before they realize they want to play an instrument. You’re at a fantastic age. Who knows, if you started playing at age 10, maybe you would have given up on it by age 12 because of the difficulty. Everything happens for a reason, good luck on rocking out!

Cheers Walt. I think the problem with age which I see in a lot of people is insecurity about what they can do sets in, which is probably the main barrier to learning anything I guess. I wonder if there is a good way to break all that up, but then a good thing about your videos is that they make the doing of it a lot of fun, which makes the insecure thoughts “not matter” I guess, because of having fun.

If you have fun and work hard, and think differently, then you’re in a good spot :)
