Where CD Money Goes

In case you were wondering. By the way, this chart is from years ago when CD’s were priced around $15 dollars. Today they cost around $10-12, and the distribution may be different because of new services (internet media, etc.) and other factors (musicians’ union, etc.)

On the other hand, if you own a CD store the dividends are different because you have your own profit margin, distribution, marketing, etc.

So if you’re going to start your own record company, this may prove useful. Or maybe you’re just interested.
