I'm now at ForOrchestra.com arranging pop songs for orchestra.

I learnt more in the last two months by going back and starting all over with scales and picking than I had in twenty years of “jamming”.

The concept of the circle of fifths is mindblowingly simple and applicable once you get the BASICS locked in to the brain! and the idea behind “call and response” is so desperatly needed to be understood because it is the crux of every single melody composed.. and its so darn simple!!

I’m near fifty. I wish I had not spent some many hours playing (badly) the base line for DEEP PURPLE’s “smoke on the water”

The difference when it comes to practising is that I can now speculate in my head ideas and relate them. Tis is a skill that I can use every time I pick up the guitar.

I only came across Walt on Youtube last night ( vid about sharps and flats) BEADGCF… ” sharps going in one direction flats the other ” B’attle E’nds… and F’ather C’harles. …..too simple LOL

highly reccomend that ad hoc guitarists go back and re learn.. its easier than you know and you will soon start to see how much you don’t like the skill set that you have “picked up” here and there over the years.
