Applying Music Notation To Guitar

Applying Music Notation To Guitar

Applying Notation to guitar can be difficult, but the trick is to simply learn where a few of the notes go, and them to simply combine or ‘fill in the blanks’ the ones you don’t. So we know that the first black dot, or note, in the picture below is Middle C, and that the second one is an octave higher:

So simply understand that as the notes go higher, then the notes on guitar must also increase too. So I recommend finding where Middle C is, then the F above that, then A, and then the octave C. Therefore you know most pf the notes, and if you ever happen to need to find others, then you simply ‘fill in the blanks.’

I have been watching your videos all day to try and learn to read music and I find them very helpful. Do you know about the Greek instrument called a “Bouzouki”, this is what I am playing at the moment as well as starting the quitar. I have a question for you if you can help.
How would you transfer notatoins to the bouzouki. I only learnt from reading tabs but now I have some other music but it has no tabs, so now I am trying to learn to read music.

    Many Thanks

    Nick

Dude, really enjoy your lessons. what a huge help, but in looking at the diagram above it says the notes are Middle C and the C an octave above. But it looks to me like that’s an A below Middle C and a B above it. Or am I missing something?

fixed. thank you so much craig. sorry about that!
